ABOUT THE ROLE
Dromo is looking for a Site Engineer to join our engineering team and support the delivery of racetracks, proving grounds and high-performance infrastructure projects worldwide.
The role combines site management, surveying, technical verification, design support and reporting, working closely with Dromo’s technical team, clients, contractors and other project stakeholders.
Projects may range from Formula 1 and MotoGP circuits to karting facilities, proving grounds, airports, dams and other performance-critical infrastructure.
The role requires a high level of flexibility and availability for international assignments, including periods of several weeks away from home and, when required, mobilisation with short notice.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Site Management & Reporting: Support the management of site activities and project delivery. Coordinate technical decisions and relationships with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders. Prepare daily site reports, technical updates and documentation required to record progress, issues, decisions and site conditions.
- Design: Use AutoCAD and GIS software to support engineering activities related to racetracks, airports, dams and other infrastructure projects. Prepare and revise drawings and technical documentation. Interpret design data and compare design and as-built conditions.
- Topography: Perform complex topographical surveys independently and/or as part of a team. Use professional surveying and measurement equipment. Depending on the project, equipment may include GNSS receivers, total stations, terrestrial laser scanners, mobile mapping systems, UAV photogrammetry and other specialised measurement technologies.
- Technical Assistance: Support other members of the technical team with CAD drafting, data preparation and surveying activities. Assist during topographical surveys and other site activities.
- Travel: Participate in site inspections, construction support and project management activities in different parts of the world. Undertake extended periods abroad and short-notice mobilisation where required by the project.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Dromo’s technical team, clients, contractors, consultants and laboratories to support the successful delivery of projects.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Degree in Civil Engineering or a similar technical discipline.
Technical Skills:
- Good knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Basic knowledge of GIS systems.
- Good knowledge of topography and surveying principles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, profiles, cross-sections and construction documentation.
- Familiarity with 3D geometry, levels, slopes and construction tolerances will be considered an advantage.
Language: Good working knowledge of English.
Availability: Ability to undertake long-term travel assignments, including periods of several weeks away from home, sometimes with short notice.
Interests: A passion for motorsport will be considered a plus.
WORK ACTIVITIES
The Site Engineer will work both in the field and in the office, supporting construction, surveying, quality control and technical verification activities.
- Supervising and inspecting construction works on site.
- Verifying compliance with drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Checking track and pavement geometry, levels, slopes, crossfalls and construction tolerances.
- Performing and supporting topographical surveys and setting-out activities.
- Reviewing survey and as-built data against the design.
- Monitoring earthworks, subgrade, subbase, asphalt and pavement-related works.
- Supporting quality control during construction and paving activities.
- Carrying out surface regularity, level and pavement quality checks.
- Identifying deviations between design and as-built conditions.
- Supporting the definition and verification of corrective actions.
- Preparing technical reports, inspection records and photographic documentation.
- Reviewing contractor submissions, inspection requests and as-built documentation.
- Coordinating with contractors, consultants, laboratories and client representatives.
- Supporting Dromo’s engineering team with reliable field information for technical decisions.
- Assisting with final verification and commissioning activities.
The role includes the use of professional surveying and measurement equipment. The candidate must therefore be willing to perform different types of topographical surveys using field equipment, including larger or heavier instruments, following appropriate on-the-job training where required.
PERSONAL SKILLS
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- A practical and problem-solving mindset.
- Attention to detail.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
- Ability to work independently when required.
- Good communication skills when interacting with colleagues, contractors and clients.
- Willingness to learn new surveying, measurement and engineering technologies.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Opportunity to work on high-impact and prestigious international projects.
- A young, dynamic and stimulating work environment.
- Continuous professional and technical growth.
- Competitive compensation package aligned with the candidate’s experience and skills.
- Exposure to advanced surveying, engineering and construction technologies.
- Direct involvement in projects from design through construction, verification and commissioning.
- Challenging and intensive professional experiences, including extended periods of international travel.
THE ROLE
This is not a desk-only engineering position.
A significant part of the role takes place directly on construction sites, sometimes during intensive construction or resurfacing programmes where technical decisions need to be made quickly and supported by accurate measurements.
The Site Engineer may spend several weeks working abroad before returning to the office for data processing, reporting, design verification and preparation for the next project.
The position therefore requires flexibility, independence and the ability to work effectively in international and multidisciplinary environments.
