Cremona Circuit

THE PROJECT

Dromo has supported the multi-phase redevelopment of Cremona Circuit since 2021. The first programme extended and reshaped the main circuit, redesigned safety areas, renewed the surface and rebuilt the kart track. Further modifications prepared the venue for its WorldSBK debut in 2024, connecting track geometry and technical asphalt with new sporting, operational and spectator requirements.

Project engineering in detail

A coordinated redevelopment of two circuits

The initial works lengthened the main track by approximately 350 metres, added two corners and extended the pit straight. Run-off areas were revised for contemporary FIA and FIM requirements, while the paddock was expanded. The kart circuit was rebuilt as a new 1,234-metre layout rather than treated as a secondary leftover within the site.

Preparing for an international championship

When WorldSBK announced Cremona for 2024, it identified further changes around Turns 11, 12 and 13, an additional length increase, resurfacing and upgraded race-direction and spectator facilities. WorldSBK publicly credited the circuit design to Jarno Zaffelli’s Studio Dromo. The later phase shows how a venue can be developed incrementally while maintaining a coherent technical plan.

Geometry, asphalt and operations

Cremona is not only a layout project. The racing surface, drainage, run-off, access and event infrastructure influence one another. Dromo’s role connects those disciplines so that the circuit can support cars, motorcycles, karting, testing and major events without losing the practical efficiency required for everyday operation.
