Proving Ground Design

A proving ground is a measurement instrument built at landscape scale. Its geometry, pavement, drainage and operating procedures must produce repeatable conditions while accommodating different vehicles, test speeds and development programmes.

Facilities shaped by the test programme

Dromo translates test requirements into a coordinated facility plan. High-speed tracks, handling circuits, dynamics areas, braking surfaces, low-friction zones, durability routes and support buildings are arranged around safe movements, efficient test schedules and future expansion. Early capacity analysis helps avoid conflicts between simultaneous activities.

Repeatability through engineering

For a test to be meaningful, the track must behave consistently. Geometric tolerances, surface texture, longitudinal profile, crossfall and water control are specified around the intended measurement. Digital models allow vehicle behaviour and transition quality to be reviewed before construction, reducing the risk of costly corrections.

Confidential, safe operation

Sight lines, separation, access control, recovery routes and operating scenarios are incorporated from the beginning. Dromo can continue through detailed design, procurement support, construction supervision and final verification, keeping the performance brief connected to the finished asset.
