Insights / Circuit Design

A circuit layout is a performance system.

Corner geometry cannot be separated from speed, elevation, safety, drainage, construction and the sporting or commercial product the venue must create.

Start with the brief and the evidence.

Successful circuit design begins before the first line is drawn. Intended categories, homologation goals, users, land, topography, climate, access, operations and investment phasing define the problem. Layout options can then be tested through three-dimensional geometry, vehicle simulation and a progressively detailed safety and engineering model.

The design remains iterative. A change intended to improve overtaking can alter run-off demand, drainage, earthworks, visibility and cost. Dromo develops those relationships together so the final sequence is not only engaging but also defensible, buildable and adaptable.

Why La Monumental Exists

Constraints did not draw Madrid’s signature banked sequence. Dromo created it by testing alternatives and authoring the relationship between speed, topography, three-dimensional geometry and the braking event that follows.
